What are YOU doing on Thursday?

March 21st, 2011 Comment

Twestival After Dark takes place from 6pm-9pm in Latics Corner Flag suite. The cost is £10 and the whole of that £10 goes to Oldham Mountain Rescue. So what do you get?

Well, upon arrival you will get a goody bag – containing donated items from local businesses, plus a pen, which you will need to complete your Twiz sheet, yes we are having a Twiz (quiz). Dominos pizza will be delivering some pizzas for us during the evening and Oldham Athletics warm-up guy, Broady will be keeping us entertained, as compere - we don't think he juggles !?

You will get to see first hand the work of Oldham Mountain Rescue when some of the team arrive with one or two rescue dogs. There will also be a raffle during the evening with a range of  fabulous prizes donated by local businesses. At some point in the proceedings we will be attempting a link up with other Twestival cities for live streaming. When the screen is not showing the excellent work that Oldham Mountain Rescue do, or hosting the Twiz questions it will be a Twitter wall so mass tweeting will be encouraged. The evening will also see the culmination of our online auction.

So, what more reasons do you need? Get it booked. That big blue 'get tickets' button at the top.

Oldham's very first Twestival – be a part of history

March 16th, 2011 Comment

In the space of 2 years, Twestival has grown from a one-off event in London to a global gathering of 160 cities (and 1 town!).  So we want the inaugural Twestival Oldham to show off the town at it's best.  We have a strong community here with a history of charitable stuff, and we have a very active bunch of social media lurvers!  Oldham has struggled to shake off images of whippets and pies, so now we should get together en masse to show the more progressive side of the town!

If you're a Twitter regular then you need to be at Oldham's first Tweet-up!  And if you're a newbie at Twitter, come along to experience the more 'social' side of social media.  Twestival perfectly highlights the ethics of Twitter, being social and giving back.

There are two events happening, Twestival Sunlight is for families and takes place from 4-6pm.  There will be dance, music, jewellery and cookery workshops, face painting, and furry star appearances and takes place at Earl Dance Centre.

The evening event, Twestival After Dark is at Oldham Athletic and will be hosted by Latic's warm up chappy, Broady.  There are lots and lots of prizes, including a signed book from RTS's presenter of the year, Prof Brian Cox!  The goody bag and the free pizza just about cancels out the cost of entry, and on top of all this, 100% of the proceeds raised go to Oldham Mountain Rescue.

If you want to win prizes, have fun, raise money for OMRT, and say that you were at Oldham's very first Twestival, book tickets now using the big blue 'get tickets' button at the top.
